Removal of Kauri

Sad to remove such a beautiful specimen, but when large trees are planted this close to a building the roots can be unforgiving. In this case, the roots were beginning to lift the front porch. The best place to plant is away from buildings and fence lines.

Removal of Leylandii

This leylandii was starting to rot, and was growing into and lifting the fence. By pulling the tree down, this property owner has let light into the property that was being blocked by the tree.

Plenty of firewood in this lot.

Gleditsia prune

Before and after-shot of a Gleditsia prune. These trees grow back so quickly and was blocking sun on both this property and the neighbouring property. The prune ensured the property received more sunlight in the winter and maintained the tree to a reasonable size.

Epicormic clean-up

An epicormic shoot is a shoot growing from an epicormic bud, which lies underneath the bark of a trunk, stem, or branch of a plant. The growth makes the tree more susceptible to rot and storm damage, so it is important to prune the growth on a regular basis.

Native Tree Thin

Thinning some natives. Client asked for the trees to be cut down to a more manageable height, trimmed away from gutters and thinned to let in sunlight.

Big job, happy client.

Kauri Removal

Sad to remove such a beautiful specimen, but when large trees are planted this close to a building the roots can be unforgiving. The best place to plant is away from buildings and fence lines.

This Douglas Fur tree was severely decayed and had blown over in a wind. It was literally hanging over the client's house, caught up in a very large gum tree behind it.

To remove this tree without letting it fall onto the client's house, we had to set up 2 2.5 tonne rated straps around 5m high in the tree and heavily tighten it to 2 other surrounding Furs.

I then had to climb another Fur and rig the head out of this, until it was released from the gum.

It was a relief to find the straps held the tree in place after being released, and I was able to block this tree down from my high anchor point in the other Douglas Fur I was rigging from.
